0 and Counting: Stuck in a Bad Dream
While most football stories are the stereotypical "great team, great work ethic", the football team at Francis Howell North had faced two straight years of losses. Growing up with the players and getting closer to the team made me realize how hard these guys have it not only on the field, but in the classroom as well, due to the comments faced by their peers. Over three weeks, I filmed, edited, interviewed, and produced this film that was loved school-wide.
The decided theme for the annual "Cross Out the C" football promotion content was "Time for Change". I chose the route of church bells transposed down a couple of octaves to emphasize the intense emotions. This, paired with the pregame footage in black and white, created a very popular video that created buzz around the school.
Humans of FHN: Daniel Martin
After getting to know senior Daniel Martin, it was clear he had a story to tell. Daniel was involved in the football and basketball programs at Francis Howell North and planned to play collegiate football post-graduation. While his own interest in the sport kept him playing through the losses, the losses of both his grandfather and father were the primary source of his motivation to play.
